List of potential Products that could be advertised

These products/ services i feel are appropriate for my radio station as the intended audience will be people between the ages of 30 and 50. This means that these people may have kids and i feel these are products/ services that people in this category will take interest in and in my research and planning on advertisments i found that radio stations of a similar intended audience had very similar types of adverts.

• Family days out
• Family holidays
• Gardening stores
• bikes
• Toy shop
• Cinima tickets
• Estate agents
• dentist work
• Travel Insurance 

Differences found between the national radio

After analysing and comparing these two national radio stations i found a few key differences.
Both stations presented most of the same stories however the way the stories were worded/ presented was completely different.
BBC radio 4, which is one of the stations i analysed had much more descriptive presentation and went into much more detail for each story as apposed to Capital FM which was the other national radio station which i analysed.
In addition to this i also found that Capital FM had a much shorter presentation as apposed to BBC radio 4, this shows the difference between the two radio stations target audiences.
When i come to write my stories for my main task i will consider these differences and where my station fits in the genre of radio i choose to represent.

BBC 4 National radio analysis

List of stories in order:
1. The Cremlin has dismissed reports that it compromising information of Donald Trumps bussines interests and personal life.
Facts in the story:

• The Cremlins lead spokeseman described the alligations as pop fiction.
• Among the accusasions denied was that they had a video of Donald Trumps salacious activities in a Moscow hotel.
• The lead spoke man called them false, a complete fabrication and utter nonsense.
• Donald Trump called the allegations a witch hunt.

News Values:

Continuity: This story follows the accusations against President Trump.

Elite People: This story involves the President elect Donald Trump and some of the heads of government in Russia.

2. A 15 year old girl has been covicted in the crown court of the murder of a 7 year old girl.
Facts in the story:

• Katie rough was found fatally injured in a playing field.
• The teenager who cant be named sat it the dock but didnt speak during the hearing.
• The charges are that on monday she murdered Katie Rough and at the same time she had an offence weapon (a knife).
• The 15 year old was put into secure youth accomidation awaiting trial.

News Values:

Familiarity: It took place in England which is geographically close.

Negativity: It is a bad story as a young girl has been killed by a teen aged girl which is tradgic.

3. Theresa May is facing further calls to tackle problems in health and social care.
Facts in the Story:

• The ex health minister said he wold like to see a tax to help fund social care.

News Values:
Familiarity: It is geographically close to us.
Continuity: It follows funding cuts which happened recently.
Elite People: It involves the Prime Minister.

4. The retail chain Wilco have been fined £2.2million after a worker was crushed and left paralised.
Facts in the Story:

• A metal cage filled with paint fell on 23 year old, Corisand Collins whilst working in a shop in Leicester in 2013.
• The company admitted liability. 

News Values:

Familiarity: It happened geographically close to us.

Surprise: It is a story which we dont often hear.

5. Nothern Islands secutary James Brockenshire has been holding meetings at stormont about the political crisis which stemed from an energy scheme which ran massivley over budget.
Facts in the story:

• The democratic unionist leader was forced to step down as first minister.
• If there is no resolution by monday Mr brokenshire will have the power to call an assembly ellection.

News Values:
Familiarity: Its taking place in Britain where we live.

Continuity: It follows a political crisis thus its an ongoing thing.
Elite People: This story involves James Brockenshire (Norther Islands secutary).

6. A defendant slit his throat with a knife during sentancing.
Facts in the story:

• The 33 year old man had previously admited to sexual assault.
• It is unknown how he got the knife.

News Values:
Familiarity: The event happened geographically close to us.

Surprise: Its an unusual story which we don't often come across.

7. A man has been charged with dangerous driving after a lorry was blown over on the fourth road bridge.
Facts in the story:

• The road had been closed to high sided vehicle due to strong winds.

News Values:
Familiarity: It happened geographically near.
Frequency: This type of story happens relativley oftem.

Facts in the story:

• The 44th US President has given his last speech as president.

Facts in the story:

• It took place in York
• Katie Rough was found injured near playing fields.

News Values:

Familiarity: It took place in the same country as where i live.

Surprise: Its a story which does not happen often, thankfully, and one that shocked alot of people.

Negativity: Its a horrific story and rather upsetting.

3. A 22 year man who murdered 9 black people has been sentanced to death in America.
Facts in the story:

• The murder took place in South Carolina.
• He shot dead the group in Charleston in 2015.

News Values:

Amplitude: It is not overlay common now days for the death penalty to be given and thus it is a big event.

Continuity: The case has been ongoing for 2 years.

Negativity: Its a bad story as 9 innocent people lost their lives.

4. Forcasters say that most of the country could see snow by the end of tomorrow.
Facts in the story:

• Warnings are in place of most of Scotland and Northern Island.

News Values:

Familiarity: Its geographically close to us.

Impact: The snow could potencially have an effect on commuters, schools etc.

Balance: It may have been put in there to balance out the negative stories.
